V8 disco oil consumption

I have had my V8 disco for 2 years now and I love it. It has always used a bit of oil - but nothing to write home about - 1 litre every 6000 miles. I have always had it serviced regularly and it has now done 70K. It seems to have just stated to use a lot more oil - about 2 litres in the last 2000 miles - any ideas and is it terminal. Still seems to go as well as ever.

Is it leaking (newspaper under the car with a hot engine helps pin-point where from) or burning? What grade oil are you using?

No its not leaking.

The oil is what the local garage put in - I think its medium quality 15-40.

It doesn't smoke at all either so I really don't know where its going.

Id get it checked out pdq.. in my experience of v8's when they suddenly start using lots more oil its a good sign its about to go bang....

the good news though is new 4.6 lumps are quite cheap at the mo

although 70k seems low... for problems... the wifes current motor (3.9 v8is) has 130k on it....
