Discovery Alarm fob

Can you help me, the fob for the locking on a friends 1993 TDi has stopped working. The fob battery has been replaced. Still it wont work. A local dealer has suggested that the car is to old to have a replacement fob.

As far as i know Famous Four Bought up all landrovers remaining stock of the original fobs.

Our K'reg fob only works p/t as well the spare hardly works at all, mind you if your that keen to drive it anyway, it won't stop on key either half the time bloody british workmanship.
