Has 'my' new Range Rover got asthma ?

I'm currently driving a new petrol V8. It 'pants' for a few minutes after starting the ignition as though it's exhausting air somewhere under the engine compartment. The noise appears to originate from the back lhs (as you look towards the 'screen) of the block, but I can't feel any air escaping

Something to worry about ? Or they all do that, sir ?

Dumb ass question (mine i mean), but is it not the compressor for the air suspension..? It would have to pump up the bags from being stationary for a long period.

Possibly I'm giving it back tmw, after a week of tooling round in it , and nothing's stopped working or fallen off (other than the ashtray cover ) so I imagine it was nothing serious.
