With my new Discovery I'v recently purchased came a off-road awareness course at a Land Rover Experience Driving Centre. Has any body been on one of these and if so which centre is the best and nearest to me (Oxfordshire).

Dunno which is nearest to you, but it's a real eye-opener what these machines can actually do...

There's one just south of Milton Keynes, but you know you want to head up to Eastnor Castle (nr Ledbury) ... the original test track - absolutely breathtaking.

I and Mrs Big_Dan_2b went up there for a day - brilliant.

i've driven the land rover experience course when they first built one quite a long time ago and before the general public were welcomed(worked for LR)The sad fact is that the course is tailor made to fit LR products...step heights, water depth and ramp/descent angles.I remember passengering a brand new(at the time) 94 range rover through one of the mud holes that had been filled far too high with water. The carpet ended up in the bin as the door seals were useless....the department manager thought it was hilarious. Now you won't see anything like extreme when you drive round any of the courses, its all a charade. You'd be better off blagging a day out watching destruction testing but i dare say LR would'nt want anyone from the public seeing that.
If you want to see the real LR experience watch some of the camel trophey videos.Saftey Devices built them properly and when they were unloaded back at LR they were pretty much shagged! The disco's faired better than most but the Freelanders just fell apart and that challenge was one of the easiest.
