I did post this in the 'Engines' forum, because I didn't realise there was a dedicated Land Rover one!
I am considering fitting a Lumenition conversion to my mechanical ignition V8. Anyone got any comments? Have you done it, does it make much difference etc.

James speaking:

My stage 1 has a lumenition conversion. However the engine needs a rebuild so I can't give any clarification on it's particular performance.....

...However the spark does seem to be very good. We did have a magnetic electronic ignition on our racer which did seem to work well, can't talk about economy because that wasn't the objective.

Sorry thats not that helpful but my comments would be...yes they make it run better but I can't comment on power fuel economey etc... is it work £120 new...not sure.

P.S. anyone have a cheap series III or preferably stage 1 bulkhead in Derbyshire. (the slight fettle to the landy is starting to get serious)..

Edited cos I misread something, my error.

Just got back from my hols, thanks for the feedback.

I've pretty much decided to go ahead with the conversion, but he's going in for a gas calibration on Monday and I'll see how he's running after that.
