Recently Started Working At Land Rover Dealership

Hi all
I normally lurk on the TVR forums but thought that I should say hello here. I have recently started a completely new career at a large Land Rover dealership in the south east and am keen to give some input from a dealer perspective.
It is quite obvious that there are many similarities between TVR and Land Rover ownership. - enthusiasm, commitment, frustration and dispair! Above all both sets of owners have some passion about their vehicles and that is perhapse why both companies have been around for so long and are prospering.
Forgot to mention that I am based in sales but do take a keen interest in all other areas of the business.

An opinion from the dealers side is always useful to have so welcome aboard.
Land Rovers are very much like TVR's in a way, they may have their niggles.....but you wouldn't buy anything else, I for one would never buy a JP :goingtowashmymouthoutwithsoap:
I hope you enjoy your new career path, I myself am hoping to do an apprenticeship at a Land Rover dealer when I'm fit and healthy again.

Mmmm just keep that in mind when it breaks down. 'Had a new Defender since 1st march. Had quite a few faults, but the dealership sorted it out and the LR is superb at what it does. The only problem has been down time.
No downtime to date (the vehicle is an ex dealer demo so has had some running in time), but it wasn't quite ready when we picked it up (dent repair and a new tyre to be fitted).
As a result they fitted the rear window & interior dog guards for free, the standard single CD player had a fault which couldn't be fixed, so they upgraded us to 10 player for free, they collected the vehicle both times, they gave us a loan vehicle both times, they filled the tank up both times & more importantly, they gave Mrs N17 TVR a landrover bear in safari suit.
I went in to the dealership on saturday to take the salesman into his boss and tell him how impressed I have been with the service to date.
How often do you get to do that these day's ?

It's good to know that you are having good experiences with dealers even if your vehicles may have a few problems. As dealers we have little control over problems that might arrise with the vehicles, but at least we can look after our customers and try to make any warranty/workshop work as painless as possible.

I have now given up on Land Rover, I have had two Used Approved P38A's, in the last few months and both have been well... Crap.
The first one had loose front suspension and air con not working +++++. So I handed it back the next one was very soft (shocks on the way out) and if the cig lighter was pulled out the whole trim panel came with it, plus the rear cross member was going rusty (2001 MY) but to crown it all my 4.6 Vogue turned out to be a 4.0 HSE (HPI checked my bottom).
So bye bye Land Rover.

Great to hear of a dealer interested in his product after he's cashed the cheque!.
Ive had Range Rovers for years, love them to death.
My classic went 270,000 before I swapped it for P38A, which needed a new engine within a month?, a design fault apparently, went on producing them for number of years. One simple question if the manufacturer knows he has a problem why doen't he fix it?.
Just to be clear though, I love my Range Rover, the way it runs, rides, and feels, when I replace it, it will be another Range Rover and I happily recomend them to anyone who will listen.
I just wish Land Rover Ltd wouldn't take us for granted and deal with its problems in a professional manner.
