would a D reg defender 110 be coil sprung?

Long answer: officially it's not a Defender, as that name wasn't used until 1989. However, most of the bits are the same except for the engine. And as others have already said, all 90s, 110s and Defender 90/110s are coil sprung.

As has just been said, the 90/110 didn't adopt the 'Defender' name untill August 1990 BUT it was all the same anyway until they brought in the 200Tdi.

Yes it would be coil sprung as are all 90s and 110s. It will be a LandRover 110, not a Defender.

Officially the Defender name came in in 1990 although there were some registered in 1989, the Defenders were identical initially except for badging. The TD engine was dropped in favour of the 200 Tdi (detuned Discovery lump). The V8 was dropped and the petrol 4 cylinder didn't last long either.
