Range Rover 4.2 V8 Autobiography

Evening all...
Am test-driving a 55 plate tomorrow morning - have an idea I might buy a Range Rover as an every day car... looking forward to it - have yet to drive in such an 'elevated' position...
I asked the (main) dealer about conversion to LPG - I want a big petrol engine (sorry, am not into diesels at all), and have a friend who converted his petrol Range Rover and has never looked back...
The dealer's response was:
1. they didn't offer the conversion..
2. If I had one done after buying the car, it would invalidate the warranty on the engine
3. When I sold it (having had it converted), I would realise less money
To be honest, I'm not overly fussed, as the fuel consumption without a conversion should be better than I get from the Maserati, however, was a bit surprised by the answers given...
Any comments please? and anything to look out for when considering such a beast?? What are the desirable options, and what are unnecessary?

Of his points, the first two are factually correct. The third, well, you may get a premium on the sale price for having LPG but it won't offset the cost of the conversion.

Cheers for the reply, I guessed he would be accurate on the first two (although wanted to check), I'd only consider converting if I was keeping it for a while, and doing decent mileage. I take your point...

While rebuilding my motor at a mates 4wd garage I saw no end of V8's coming in because the gas had killed the engine in one way or another.
off topic the best was this Merc Vito van which had been run on veg oil
Hammer and chisel to get the burnt on oil off!! We gave up and sent it on it's way.

On the P38 it's usually single point systems that can't flow enough gas, and haven't got the intelligence to do the necessary in order to stop the engine running lean. Kerblammo.
Also get an alarming effect when an engine backfires with an intake manifold full of gas. Kerblammo again, new bonnet required.
