The Jap Landie
Discussion
Most probably not mate-but fifty years time I would have bought a newer Isuzu.
also it out performs the Landies at off-roading, as it has a more powerful engine and a better 4x4 system
That sierra- Funny u say that-the neighbour always changes those cars on that driv and are always Fords(mondeos etc..) and they are never road legal, something dodgy going on there

I must say a Trooper is no where near as good as a Land Rover off road. Yours has been lifted so is obviously better than standard but comparing like with like a standard Defender is leagues ahead in the mud.
I know this because earlier this year whilst my Defender was having its cage fitted I bought a £300 1992 Trooper SWB 2.8 TD (bog standard except had decent all terrains that had loads of tread) to use for a 3 day greenlaning trip that I didn't want to mis out on as I figured it didn't matter if it broke and I had to leave it there! I found the engine fine on road but off road it didn't have the low down punch of the Tdi, especially noticable when wading. Axle articulation was not a patch on a Defender and ground clearance meant that I was often towed along ruts like a sledge! It was better than I thought it would be but in no situation was it better than a Defender.

trooperman4x4, thanks for posting the pics of your TrooperII, I must admit I miss mine. It's still in Florida waiting for a replacement title so it can be towed to a wreckers to be crushed...
Though no doubt Land Rovers are more capable off road and on, the Trooper is a very strong little truck and I had some amazing drives in mine over the years (you know your having fun when the "road" is so bad your passengers ask to get out..)
I'm still looking forward to getting my Discovery off road as I haven't had the time yet, but Colorado should offer endless oppurtunities.
Here is a photo of my 87 Trooper taken in 1992 shortly after I purchased her, she was a rare long wheel base 2 door. I got alot of comments at gas stations on what a handsome truck it was when she was new to me (5 years old), unfortunatly time, weather, and road salt caught up to her and she really looks her age now.

See you Land Rover owners are so BLIND sighted it unbelievable, and all you can see and think is Land Rover! The majority of you probably don't even use your "Sheds" off-road and have never driven another 4x4 (I used to have a Landie-would never go back to 1)
Hell, I'm not even interested in 4x4's but I can't see the point of you coming on here and slagging off LR . Forums that are dedictated to particular marques are there for those owners to and enthusiasts to discuss that particular marque.
Me thinks you have a big chip on your shoulder (and secretely wich you had a LR) or you just a troll.
Or maybe just a very bored person with nothing to do because your trooper got stuck in the mud somewhere and you are waiting for a LR drivedr to you out.
