Just thought I'd recommend John Craddock to LR owners who didn't know about them.

I recently bought some new wheels and tyres for my 90 and John and Jamie from JC were absolutely brilliant. Really helpful chaps, well priced, great customer service, sound advice and generally a pleasure to deal with.

We had problems with the supplier getting the remaining wheels in and everything has all been resolved. They even posted the wheels to where the car is having all the work done. Which saved me loading them into the car.

I'm not affiliated with them in any way, just thought they were brilliant to deal with.

I bought alot of parts drom them when I rebuilt my series 2, always good service.

Also a set of tyres, fitted for free, and cheap too.

Paddock's are cheaper, but service is sometimes, erm... somewhat confused.

many thanks for this web site.
my car just gone in today for they think could be a bearing or the 4 wheel drive not working on the back wheel of drivers side.

We always had good service from Craddocks and DLS when I had my landy - had no cause to shop anywhere else.

Is this therefore somewhere to go for genuine Landrover spare parts - not just big generic things like wheels and bumpers?

I've always had the impression that the only way to get genuine (i.e. non-pattern) parts is to go to a main dealer and inevitably get ripped off.

In my experience - from UJ's to fan belts - it always pays to fit the genuine article as originally fitted by the manufacturer.

IIRC Dingocroft used to supply genuine stuff, well they did when I rebuilt my 1959 S11 many years ago.

I thought they were all made in the same place.

I would add to this Brookwells, which have given me lots of helpful advice and sold me some excellent bits at very fair prices. www.brookwell.co.uk/

Oh indeed - that's true for many things, such as brake parts and master cylinders (e.g. Girling), electronics (Bosch/Lucas), brake pads (Ferodo), etc. These are not equivalent to non-pattern parts - which are basically 'universal' maunfacturers wanting a piece of the pie, with not quite the same concern for quality and consistency.

So with certain types of parts - where it's not obvious who made it in the first place, it's can be best to get the 'original', given the mystery over who really made it. E.g. pulleys and things.
