Hi,

Normally I float round on the TVR forums but need a little help from you Land / Rnage Rover people please!

My cousin has a 2000 RR vogue V* and needs a new engine. He has been quoted around 5k for the engine and fitting which seems a bit steep to me. Any reccomendation for a place in North London? I also heard about a guy in MK, John Cowley I think. Has anyone got his contact details?

Cheers

cant help you on a garage for this sort of work as i have a tractor engine, but there is some usefull information on what is probably the problem, and some smart questions to ask here .. .

If you flick back through the pages i think that there will be a few more threads on this too as i know i have seen several threads on shagged 4.6 engines.

I am sure that someone else will be along with a recomendation shortly.

That would be:
Cowley & Co.
7 Stratford Road
Whaddon
Milton Keynes

Phone: 01908 501 713

Not had any work done by them myself, but they have been helpful on the phone. Have heard good things about Rogers in Bedford and have used EH Douglas a few times who know there stuff. I know a few of the mechanics there and they enjoy their off roading. Know alot about LPG and v8s.

Spoken to Cowley and they seem pretty good.

Thanks for the links and contact numbers. Once again the PH massive comes through for a member in need!

A short block would now cost you in the region of between £1,800-£2000.Then add another £1000-£1,500 for fitting. When i had mine replaced my engine was actually built by the man himself V8 legend John Eales.

John has quoted 3.5ish including all the oil bits and pipe type things. I beleive the car is going to go up there over the next day or two. once sorted it will probably be sold unless anyone wants to make a decent offer for it before it goes...!

Thanks a lot for your help, much appreciated.
