what a day - 1st off road experience today in the Range Rover, so impressed with the capabilities of the rangie, as were Ed and XJS john - a few pics follow, we were warned to stay on the white runs and by the end of the day was having a pop at a few of the blacks hehe

The priceless look on the face of one of the marshalls as he tried to work out how we'd done a near vertical black run on road tyres as we just ploughed outta there rofl

Thats mine on the left, thats right the brown one rofl

Yup,

We Came,
We Saw,
And Hughesie definitely did some conquering.

I threw mine down a few Red Run's but bow to the tunnelmeister for some of those Black runs you did, that took balls!!!

And that sight of your Rangie about 20 feet above mine going up a mini mountain ... and the marshal pointing at your tyres with his mouth open!!! priceless!!

I think that even the hard core offroaders were surprised at just what a P38 on road tyres was capable of (because i will be honest and say that it was 90% the car's ability, 9% my enthusiasm and 1% my ability that got me through some of the runs!!!)

What a top day all for £20 and with all profits to charity too thumbup

cheers to ItsAYellowThing for the recomendation, shame you couldn't make it along, but i suspect that it wont be the last time we will be there!!!

Yep - fantastic day! I was amazed at what these things could do, all completely standard and running on normal road tyres, and judging by the looks on the faces of some of the more experienced folk there, they were too! hehe

The best bit was seeing Hughsie disappear off down a red run (the routes were graded as white, red and black with red and black being meant for the more modified stuff), and then seeing him unable to turn right onto the correct route due to lack of grip, so he did a left instead, and then simply reversed along the rest of the course hehe

All 3 vehicles behaved perfectly, although I managed to snap a damper on mine, which meant an early end to the day for me hence it looking a lot cleaner than the other two in the photos

Don't know about the others, but i got some priceless looks driving through Canary Wharf on the way home on Sunday night!!

Mine has been attacked with a Jet Wash around the mechanicals basically because i was not sure that the brakes and suspension would appreciate all that clay drying on around the moving bits. Still looks proper filthy sitting in the car park here though, and there is a nice puddle of mud underneath it too!!

Hughesie, have you lifted your bonnet yet hehe i did to top up the washer bottle, and i had to dig it out from under all the mud.

EVERYTHING is coated in there!!! block, intercooler, firewall EVERYWHERE hehe

yes Mine's parked up near Canary Wharf still filthy, and dropping bits of mud everywhere

I was very disappointed that it had to sit out the 2nd half of the day, as it missed out on getting that top to toe covering of mud. Next time though... next time... hehe

I'd jet-wash the radiator sharpish, too

Oh, and if you have an aftermarket filter, like mine, do that before it bakes hard....!

Great pics, nice to see RRs in their natural environment.

one or two small crunches that sounded expensive on the first run, but after closer inspection were nothing to worry about.

for my part my chassis touched a few times, but the overhangs never seemed to be a major problem, my 19" wheels gave me slightly more ground clearance hehe Pimp My Ride - Offroad stylie!!!

mine grounded out a couple of times, managed to get the extra lift that the Rangie promises if you get it beached which was kind of impressive for the 1st time out in it OR - taking the tow hook off next time but reckon that saved a bit of damage anyway to the rear - front left is a bit scuffed where it "fell" into a rather deep hole at one point hehe

Just had mine cleaned as the Concierge was giving me funny looks earlier, took it to the russians to be cleaned and they just fell about laughing, cabbie said to me "what Quarry did you fall into then" when i replied he said you cant do that, its not designed to do that rolleyes - TW@ - they havent done a "great" job, but its beter than it was - needs a really good wax and buff up to be honest as its got a few heavy brush marks down the sides - wouldnt stop me from doing another day though

how are your side steps looking then ??? They looked like they needed a bit of bashing back into shape by the end of the day!!

Just taken mine down to our local Russians too (the guys in Cabbot Place refused to wash mine on grounds that they recycle thier water and it would be too dirty afterwards !!! WTF?!?! hehe). They did not look very impressed but have wiped most of the crud off and blasted the key bits under the bonnet too!!

Amazingly cant see a single scrape, scuff or bent bit anywhere, mind you i stuck to the white and red runs unlike you ... nutter

fancy doing it again some time?

yes (stupid Question really)

Might invest in a cheaper one though, mines really too good to be treated like that too often

it was a blast wasn't it. Think all 3 of our rangies were probably too "good" for some of the serious abuse that was happening there! Although would still happily throw mine around those white and red runs again!

Perhaps some slightly better tyres and a cheep set of wheels from ebay though!
