I was thinking about getting a TD5 as a family hack

My wife insists on an automatic (and I'm inclined to agree that auto suits this type of car better)

However, I believe that the standard TD5 Auto will be a bit underpowered for my liking

Has anyone any experience of coupling the Stage 2 conversion with the TD5 Auto?

I'd also be interested to hear about reliability issues and/or increased running costs associated with the Stage 2

thanks in advance

Not on an auto but I had mine done ar about 1 month old. 3years later and no problems..

the boost window is much bigger, low down its better but still not great. to pull away quickly you need a fair few revs and slip the clutch a bit untill you on boost, not sure how that works with an auto.

if you not concentrating in any td5, you go to pull away at a roundabout, nothing happens for a while then woosh it all comes in. with the stage 2 its a bit better and not as harsh.

the mid range is vastly improved and motorway / a roads are much easier.

the only problems i've had are a couple of air-flow metres go pop, but im not sure thats a specific problem with the conversion, bosh seem to have a problem with them on a number of cars l/r,vw,porker....

on balance I'd have it done... everyone who drives my car notices it instantly...

mpg difference, probably not I drive mine hard so only get 24ish but without the conversion it would be working harder... if you towing its better with the conversion on mpg

sounds like a Stage2 is an absolute necessity on an automatic TD5 given the tardy acceleration
