hinged front end
Discussion
whilst struggling reaching into the engine bay of my series 3 - i was wondering.....
how hard can it be to rivet the wings to the bonnet and have the whole wings/bonnet assembly pivot on the existing bonnet hinges? the only difficulty i can see is fitting an inverted 'u' to steady the wings, and multi-blocks on the lighting.
anybody tried this?

I've seen it done on a Series 3 V8 where the bonnet, wings and grille panel hinger forward like an E-type, and on a Series One where it all hinged on the bulkhead. I think that the first method may result in better access because the wings are not likely to be hot by your head when standing up after a peep at the engine!
