I've just bought a 1998 Range Rover 4.6, and want to do some off roading with it. Trouble being that it's standard, on road tyres. Just how good/bad will it be offroad? Will it cope OK with one of the usual organised offraod sites or will i end up getting stuck all the time?

Having seen this, me too. Mine's been a city car all its life until i got it this month. I've probably put more mud on/over/under it in the last week than it's ever had in all its 8 years. I'm going to look into getting some basic tuition, seem to be plenty of sites round here.

I would think the car is capable, but would get yourself a set of steel wheels and more aggressive tyres for off-roading.

Fraid not, already got a set of wheels for te BMW taking up far too much space in the garage, so a second set for the RR isn't an option.

Mud Matters - i like that hehe

Hmm so how do we go about this?? I ama bit ofa newbie to this muddy driving. In the past if i wound up in mud in a car it usually ment that i had censored up on a corner or some such hehe

South ish preferably, but am willing to accept that in order to find proper mud i will have to travel a few hours from London

Any places to recomend?

I shall now waste yet another day of work by reading motoring websites!!! hehe

hehehe its a FLAT field with the camera tilted! RRs go further than you'd expect. i remember a tv show that tested a late RR against a Defender offroad & the RR won cause of all the toys they have.

offroad day sounds fun to me.
