Hi All

Picked up a v6 freelander for the stable/horse run. Are they all noisy?eg when driving it, sounds like a quiet milk float speeding up in the background.. I am guessing the answer is no, but having not owned a landrover before, assume they are prone to some problems.

Also live in the Banbury/Oxon area, can anyone suggest a non Fran garage for servicing etc.

Thanks

If the IRD is shagged (they all are IMO when they leave the factory) replace the prop as well. They both wear out together and the prop will send a new IRD out in a couple thousand miles. IRD=shit design IMHO and LR won't allow companies to make replacement parts. I've had one apart they are not complicated but there are no parts available for a DIY

Sorry dude I think he may be right . My new neighbour has one - its a terrible thing and a disgrace to the brand IMO. Has had a new gearbox and a new rear diff in 20,000 miles , and it rattles like a 30 year old Renault ( which is a lot ) ....

I worry this may be costly. I hope not. Good luck fella.

IIRC you can get a new IRD for about £650 but if stocks are low expect to pay £1000.
