How fast will your Land Rover go?
Discussion
or maybe a better question is how fast have you been in your Land Rover? (on your private road, of course)
Personally, I have done 70mph in my series 2, totally flat out, foot to the floor. I expect I was averaging about 5 mpg!
In the Disco, with its tired Tdi, it will do about 90. So all in all, a pretty poor show from me.
What about you?

I've had my 2000 NAS Disco up to 90 , it was comfortable at that speed. I would imagine it's aerodynamically limited to around 100 or 105 MPH. I like the 4.0L Rover engine, they quote a 0-60 time of 11 seconds but it feels faster than that, 50 - 70 seems very quick.
At 90 MPH it has to be running out of steam pushing all of that air.
But then again my old 2.3L Trooper would do 90 MPH and it was only 500 lbs less in weight, has approximately the same frontal area and half the cylinders.

This one wasn't mine (wish it had of been) We had a 110 300tdi when I was in th RAF that came from special vehicles it went like stink, we got an indicated 105 on a long run back from Scotland twas all over the and the rad gave up it's contents as soon as we pulled over for juice
Weird - my 300tdi disco boiled itself while flat out, i wonder if this is a trait of the engine...
Sii swb 2.25 80mph on scarey small un assisted drums all round on its best engine and about 50 on the last one
the 80mph motor developed an oil habit and on one long motorway run used most of it out of the sump and then spat out one of the big end bearings..... the best bit was the way the super mud plugger remoulds spat rubber chunks off at that speed, i think they were maxed at 65
I managed 85 out of an army lightweight once following the staff car.
3.9 and TD5 JE stage 2 discos both 100+ thats all im saying
