i will definatly be trying again this weekend, does anyone know where this off road centre is near the start of the M1? i would like to give that a go at some point, ive been getting a few strange looks with it covered in mud though, as if people are thinking ah theres one thats not a Chelsea Tractor, what worries me is that if i had an L322 it would be similarly splattered in mud i just would be a bit more careful near trees

Do you mean Devil's Pit around Luton area?

I've been when I first bought mine. As I recall the course is split into 3 'difficulty' levels, with the highest requiring cage and helmet. Not the best marshalled site I've driven, but good fun anyway. Have you joined any clubs yet, as their own pay-and-play days are usually entertaining...

Heres us a couple of weeks ago from a site called Oxley Shaw Wood. Lots of fun had in the bombhole. We went with Thames Valley 4 x 4.

Once you join the club it was about £15 or £20 for the day. You can join on the day (think its £20) and then you dont pay for entry that day.

we joined Thames Valley 4x4 and 4x4 Withoutaclub

for a novice can you get tuition/help If I had a LR, I would hate to damage it by being stupid and not knowing how to off road drive.

In my experience most clubs will offer help and guidence, just steer clear of the one with the cowboy hat on and a copy or LRO rolled up in his back pocket! There's one of them at every club they read the magazine and think they no it all nono

I've let my membership lapse this year unfortunately, but here's another vote for TV4x4 - a friendlier, more helpful bunch you will not meet, and with access to a broad range of sites from novice level to "I'm not going up/down/through THAT"...occasionally the SJ boys buzzing around can get tiresome, but just crank up the A/C, relax into your leather seat, and show them what V8s can do....just not in the water

Devils Pit is another good site quite big loads of different routes for all levels. Think its £25 to get in there but you dont need to join just turn up and have some fun.

TBH, I've enjoyed the various TV4x4 sites more than Devil's Pit. Bro' has been volunteered to give me a hand with the heads on the RR, however the garage bill for the Vitesse has just arrived so there may be a small delay!

Hope you've not been out laning on your own...or have you fitted a winch already?

Saw a disco looking like this. Had 'First service next week' written in the mud on the rear window.

i went out with a friend who has a Defender,he was mot impressed with the RR though, we swapped for a little while to compare cars, i like both of them but the RR is definatly more refined.
