Marks Adams Chip on a P38?
Discussion
Hi,
Has anyone here had their P38 chipped? I've been reading that it is a good thing to consider for a variety of reasons, but I would like to get first hand accounts from anyone whose shelled out their own hard earned on such an upgrade.
I was considering LPG, but there are too many 50/50 stories floating around about that, so my next thought is to ensure the car is tuned to ensure best performance
Any thoughts most welcome.

What year is your range rover?
Those chips only fit the GEMS P38's so if yours is a mid '99- Bosch forget about it.
I've read they give smoother running & a slight improvement to mpg. The claim that they make the car run cooler & help to prevent block problems is unproven, some doubt it.
You've come to same conclusion as me on the lpg conversions anyway, way too much doubt over them for me to splash out thousands... when petrol becomes even more stupidly expensive i'll have to reconsider!

Yours is a 4.0 right? With the bosch thats the safest engine choice, i wouldnt risk chipping it
Magnecor leads and a decent set of plugs would be a good addition at the next service
If you want to throw some cash at it, take a look at the rimmer stainless exhausts. They do a great twin exit cat back ss for £480, part no RA1419SS
I have the single exit version of this & its awesome quality, gives a throaty roar at low revs but doesnt droan like the sports exhausts do

ive heard off a mate who works at a LR specialist that most of the problems with later RRs is due to the engine ruinning too lean on the stock chip. means it gets too hot & causes alsorts of faults.
tell me if im wrong, ive never had one just passing on gossip (like an old woman over a fence)

Changing really is a pain in the arse on the bosch cars so leave it until the service where there'll be changing the plugs anyway
