Needing to swap the Porsche for something a tad bigger & have found myself looking at Range Rovers.

I'm wanting to spend circa 30k (would go upto 35k), however, what should I be looking for ?

I assume the V8 is the way to go, and there seems to be plenty of choice about.

Seems a lot of car for the money.

The newest one you can find within budget would be a good starting point. V8 is better than td6 provided the fuel bills dont scare you!

Someone will no doube be along with some more useful info shortly!!

Car would be for the wife who only does around 5000 miles a year, so fuel bills ain't too much of a worry.

after driving the TD6 fairly often i would really recomend the V8, go for the Vogue over the SE or HSE, firstly thier better kitted out, secondly thier easier to sell as thier more desirable, try to buy one of the better colours as it will aid in resale, Black,Silver,Blue or Gun metal grey(ish) seem to be the best, mechaniclly i think thier pretty sound compared to the older ones.

Petrol 4.4ltr
Vogue - only options not included in price are the bolt on running boards etc.
Colour - not greens, reds. Go for blacks, blues etc.
Big wheels.
VIP Pack - free servicing for 5 yrs.
Full LR history
Low miles / new as poss.
Mint - chose carefully. No off roading evidence.

£35k WILL get you something great, probably an '04/54.

Make sure evertyhing works. LR dealership to buy from to get some comeback, should you find it with some niggles.

Happy hunting. Good luck with the kiddies.

Damn, sussed

Been looking this weekend. Early 30's seems to get a 4.4 V8 Vogue, 03 or 53 plate, below average mileage, in a decent colour from an approved LR dealer.

2 that caught my eye were an Oslo blue one & a green one which I also thought looked really nice (although assume these are harder to sell on ?).

How much movement is there normally on dealer prices ? I assume these kind of cars don't sell easily what with running costs/depreciation or am I wrong ?

If your'e only doing 5k miles a year, you might as well get a higher milage example - it will all average out after a couple of years and someone else gets the hit for the high miles. That's what i did when I got my bm.

I know that green has been traditionally an LR colour but personally I would stay clear of it. Silver, Grey and Black do look good on them, particularly with privacy glass.

Oslo Blue is a nice colour so is Java Black, i think the Green suits the P38 very well but it doesnt suit the current shape at all.

Only problem I have is the interior colours. They all seed a bit of a non event with the exception of Parchment, however this is far from ideal what with it being a bit transporter.
