Grooved & Drilled Discs - RR P38
Discussion
Hi,
Due to a main dealer being, shall we say 'economical with the truth' I have a spare set of grooved and drilled front discs for a P38 (Series II) Range Rover. The nearside disc was fitted to my car for around 200 miles before being unnecessarily replaced by an identical disc. These are from Paddock Spares and cost £50 + postage.
Anyone who wants them and can collect from the Cheltenham area can have them for a couple of decent bottles of Rioja.
Regards

hello alan is your car by any chance a blue R reg p38 v8 with twin exhausts (sound great) and recently had a front hub fitted to cure a noise? i work at stratstone land rover and remember a colleague fitting a new brake disc to cure a squeak if i remember correctly, and in the end the car had to have a hub assembly to cure it?
Hi 120a,
Yep, that's me! I don't have any criticism of the guy that did the job. However, to be told that the disc had been on the bench and measured and was severely warped was a downright lie. This resulted in me purchasing an additional set of discs, greater expense, more inconvenience etc etc. Main dealers charge a huge rate for labour and spares and for that I expect them to know their own vehicles. I was left with a very bad impression and have subsequently gone elsewhere for the 72k service - not the local alternative.
As an aside, I think it's unlikely that I will replace this vehicle (good though it is when it's not in the garage) with any British car. For the vehicles that I buy they're simply not built well enough and are too unreliable. My next vehicle will probably be an Audi S4/RS4 Avant.

If you're still after some wine, I'd be happy to take the disks off your hands. My p38 has just returned from a service and needs new front disks soon (they've lasted about 11k miles!).
Cheers,
D
Not a problem. I'm in no rush but the box looks untidy in the garage ;-) I have a good friend who travels to see friends and relatives in Cambridge - I'll ask when he's next in the area. Failing that in the next few weeks I'll be in Lincs, South Wales, Cornwall, Dorset and probably several other places if anywhere else is convenient.

Great, it's much appreciated. I'm generally either down here or in Yorkshire though I do get around a bit with work.
cheers,
Darren.
