Cheapest Place for a new Defender
Discussion
I was looking a buying a new one recently and a main dealer offered me a 10% discount off the list price of a 90 XS without me even haggling, so probably a bit more is possible with a bit of pushing.
In the end the dealer got hold of a 5 month old XS with 4k miles on the clock for a good price so I bought that one.
You'll need to move fairly quickly - Land Rover won't be allowed to sell station wagons in the UK (and I guess Europe) from September due to new regulations about sideways facing seats and lap belts...

OK, I wasn't clear in my post. I meant you won't be able to get the current model...
I'd heard the new version wouldn't go on sale until spring next year, from dealer and in this month's Land Rover Owner International mag.
I guess the new model will lose at least one, if not two rear seats compared with the current model?
The six speed box sounds a great idea, motorway journeys would be improved a lot with a higher top gear!

They'll get round selling their old stock by pre-registering them and selling them as second hand!
