Had my P38 for 4 hours
Discussion
and noticed a couple of things..
1. The boot will not open. I've tried unlocking and re-locking the car via the key fob several times, and every other door will open apart from the boot. I press the botton and nothing happens. It was working, but not now. Is this a blown fuse?
2. The ABS warning light lights up on ignition and stays lit until I've driven above 5mph. Is this a problem? It hasn't lit up when I've been driving.
Apart from that, loving it.
I can take it back to the garage tomorrow for some help, but thought I would as you chaps before I make the journey.
Cheers
Julian

oh well. Left the car locked up for a couple of hours, came back, used the key fob to unlock it, and thought I'd try the boot and hey presto, it opens withoutso much as a hiccup! I should know better having owned a TVR that cars like this have character
Still not certain about the ABS warning light though.....

That would be The Prince working his magic...
If that is the Lucas Gems system you refer to, I think mine has the Bosch system installed as it's a 2000 plate.
Does anyone know where I can download a copy of the Rave CD for the P38?

If you look in the manual (if you have one) the ABS light does stay lit until you have got up a bit of speed.
As for the fob, change the batteries.
Keep a very close eye on the oil and coolant levels!
Good luck, they are fab cars.

I should read the manual more thoroughly next time, because it clearly states that the ABS light stays on until you're underway.
In terms of Oil, what viscosity should I use? Are there any brands that people on here recommend?
Same question for coolant I guess, are there any particularly good brands that are RR friendly?
Getting the coolant from the dealership is probably the best bet, not that expensive anyway
Oil, from RPI website- Most people don't realize that the quality and detergent level of an oil are actually far more important then its viscosity. A reputable oil, changed often, is far better for your engine than much more expensive synthetic oil changes done less frequently.

Had the car 10 days now and loving every wafting petrol guzzling moment. The great thing about having a new car is that you notice a new thing every day. Today I spotted what I assume is a microphone next to the interior light cluster. Thing is, I can't work out what this is for. If it's for a handsfree kit, then I'm stumped because I can't see a cradle, or where a cradle would have been.
Can anyone shed any light as to what this may be, and if it's for a handsfree, how can I find out....
