Defender 90 SOFT TOP CONVERSIONS.
Discussion
I have a 1984 series 3 and a v8 anniversary Defender.I think it is better to preserve the value of the v8 by leaving it standard. My series was converted for summer use by Churchill 4x4 in Bromsgrove; it is brilliant for pottering in the good weather and I put the hard top back on for the winter.

I'm lucky enough to own both TDi5 and V8 Anniversary editions of Defender 90 and would like to have one of them - probably the Anniv. - converted to soft top. Can anyone recommend a company who can do this and do you have any views on the pros and cons. Cheers all.
Nene overland - EXTREME SOFTTOP option ?
If you're in Hampshire, how about Keith Gott near Alton? www.keithgott.co.uk
They seem to have a decent reputation

Another vote for not hacking the anniversary about. Those buggers retain value like mad when left original but it could cost you a lot if you start to change things.
Take your point but I like the V8. Surely it would cost me even more to have a soft top conversion AND a V8 transplant? Why not get an OE ragtop with hoops etc....
My mate has a V8 90 and in the summer the hard comes off in one piece thanks to 4 small eye bolts fittted on the roof. In the winter he reverses the process.
I hate to see classic LR's like yours get hacked about they deserve to be looked after and cherished but on the other hand it's a bloody landy which like all Landy's is screaming out to be modded to the owners requirements......
IMHO I would sell the 50th and build a galv chassis'd 90 with a 4.0ltr lump in it . As all of the 50th 90's I've seen look like they went through special vehicles way too fast and the build quality is worse than a normal 90!

So....another route which must admit sounds a possibility. However that broadens my original question to who would you reccommend to do both the soft top and V8 conversion - bearing in mind I want a proper job not an 'on going project'!My mate has a V8 90 and in the summer the hard comes off in one piece thanks to 4 small eye bolts fittted on the roof.
