I need to change the rotors and pads on my 4.6HSE Range Rover.

At the moment they have the OEM rotors and a set of very poor Mintex pads which do nothing but squeel - they don't even help stop the car much. I've had a look at the rotors and the front and rear are OK but may need replacement mainly because they are badly scored. The rears are much worse than the fronts.

Anyway, I spent a few days looking into brakes and brake upgrades. It has been suggested that I use either Lockheed Delphi rotors and pads or EBC. There was mention of Brembo front rotors and Rossini (see article - www.carpages.co.uk/news/performance-brake-discs-25-03-05.asp ) but no-one seems to know too much about the Brembo and the Rossini rotors may not be worth the extra.

Put it another way, for rotors and pads front and rear, Lockheed Delphi would cost £130, EBC £300 and Rossini would be £200 just for the front rotors.

So I guess what I'm asking is - Are EBC worth the extra money or can anyone hold their hand up and say that a pair of Brembo or Rossini rotors are worth tracing because they are better quality than EBC?

I had overfinch brkaes on my 4.0ltr P38, was really happy with them, but I didn't have to pay for them to be fitted, the previous owner did.

Hi, give Kingsley Cross Country a call. They are great people and will be happy to help. Based nr. Alton in Hants if you are close. No messing LR specialists whom I thoroughly recommend.

Yea - sorry. I've done multi posts on this forum... Guilty as charged, M'Lord.

I was most pleased to see the comment that said that it was pads and not rotors which make the most difference. Maybe I'll try the Lockheed rotors and EBC SUV Supreme pads..

I think disks are much of a muchness unless one brand is prone to warping or cracking. Avoid drilled in the same way you avoid slipped liners. Grooved only really important if you get massive fade even with uprated pads.

I hear the groved effect of some rotors keep the pads flat to avoid any uneven wear in the pads or rotors. Is this true?
