new defenders

Hi, thinking of replacing the farm truck with a new Defender.Its been five years since i drove one and i'm guessing they're pretty much the same?
My question is, does anyone know when the new ford powered one is due out.I've read that the td5 is now just about discontinued but the dealers don't even seem know it exsists.You think they'd read the interenet eh.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated or any information about the new specs would be brill?
I don't want to order a new one only to find out its been replaced by a better engine in three months time.
Its strange how i always considered the Landy too heavy here and have run Toyotas, but with the new Hilux now really lardy,too long at nearly 5.3 mts and just too road orientated its time to jump ship.I'm sick of no articulation, lsd's that never work and getting stuck in vee ditches that i could ride a mountain bike through.

The new Defender is a few years away yet and when released will be a completely different vehicle to the current model being expected to be based on the same chassis as the Disco 3 and the Range Rover Sport.

Updated Defender with ford diesel will be available early 2007 and will continue until 2010.
