Hi there! HELP PLEASE!!

I have a 98 L.Rover Discovery, and after disconnecting my battery the radio is now asking for the code. I've done this process before. Back then, I got the code from LR, input it and radio came bck to life, BUT this time, it's behaving very weird and doesn't seem to be accepting it, it doesn't even acknowledge when I input the numbers...the word "CODE" never goes away, it bips and nothing happens.

I've already tried disconnecting the battery again,...but no joy!

Could anyone please save my life?!?! The dealer told me I would probably have to buy another radio and also forget about the original CD changer because it wouldn't work with anything else!!!!

It sounds like its on delay mode.Leave it for a couple of hours to be sure then press the code in again.

Hey thanks! I've already tried that too. LRover told me to wait a couple of hours after I inputing it 3x. After that was when I tried disconnecting the battery again...still nothing...

Yep. I know ... I double checked it w/ LRover, and made sure it's the right one.
Just checking : I just have to switch the radio on, and when it displays "CODE" I type in the code, right?!

Yeah its as simple as that, then the radio should accept the code and the radio should come on.I would leave the battery disconected over night and then try again in the morning.

A friend with a Ford had similar problems but was told that after inputting the code 3 times the system then has to be left switched on for several hours before further attempts can be made. It was finally only resolved after the radio had been left running for 24 hours.
Can Landrover advise if this radio is the same?

Hi this is all i could find in the workshop manual.

Security code function
A combination of buttons on the radio cassette are used to input and change security codes. Security codes make the unit unusable if the unit is disconnected from the vehicle without deactivating the security code. The radio cassette has an internal memory chip that stores the information, if the power is removed from the unit the chip will activate the security code feature. For this reason the security code feature must be deactivated before the unit is removed or the vehicles battery is disconnected.

I will keep looking

Hi guys, I really appreciate all the help!

I left the battery disconnected overnight, but this morning radio was still the same.

It has power because LCD is on and "CODE" is displayed, would it be possible that it's a fuse problem?

Regardless, now I'll definitely try leaving it switched on for a while. (Tks for tip!)

IT WORKED!!!!! YEAYYYYYYY!

I had left the radio alone for many hours before, but switched OFF..., just followed Steve's advice, and left radio ON for a couple of hours this morning... then tried the code again....and VOILA!

I am glad I came to the experts first! I really appreciate your attention on this!

Have a great weekend you all!
