I sold my 02 4.4 range rover 8 months ago after having alot of problems ei.front dif, gearbox, electrical, viscous coupling, nickasil wear in the engine, the problem is I can't find a car that is as nice to drive as the range rover. I just wondered if everyone else has had the same problems? was I just unlucky? or should I get myself ready for more of the same if I buy another one?

I'm going to me looking for a 4.4 with no more than 40k on the clock.

Thankyou in advance,

Ant.

What is your budget? the 06's are a lot more reliable engine wise (And in a few cases electronics wise as well).

dont want to spend 06 prices, a warranty is fine but to be honest my concern is that me, my wife and our three young children are not going to be stranded every five minutes. I'm really trying to get an idea of how reliable these cars are? did I just have a bad experience or are they all like this?

Thanks,

Ant.

There is still some problems on front diffs on the L322,and only the odd nikasil problem croping up,but i think on the whole you just had a friday car.

i agree, the ones ive driven seemed to have been well built, my brother had a TD6 for nearly a year and it was fine, if you really want an 06 i would say wait, they depreciate so much in the first couple of years its just not worth it.

You have just been unlucky. Some cars will always have problems, you did right to chop it in, but I would recommend getting another. Don't rush into buying one, I looked at some real reopey ones (low mileage cars included) and in the end we went for a slightly higher mileage car, but one which was in excellent condition. Bought it at 2 1/2 yrs old, it had its third birthday on the 20th June so we took it in and the Dealership repaired/replaced everything they could under the factory warranty, carried out all outstanding recalls and we opted to take out the 12 month extended warranty, made easier by the fact we took out the 10 interest free monthly payments of £147.

Go do it, there are lots around at the moment, I would go for a 2003/2004 model for £35k. Get a 4.4 Vogue, big wheels and the VIP service pack.............
