I am the proud owner of a 2003 range rover 4.4V8 vogue tha has just run out of warrenty(You just know whats coming dont you!!!!) Yesterday i drove3 it on amotorway for a bout an hour at a steady pace less than 91mph, when i came off i drove it through some lanes and junctions and stuff for about 10 mins. After this i stopped at a junction and pulled away. The gear box would not change up the box untill i reached over 4000rpm and then would only change as far as 3rd. This happend a few weeks ago when i was stuck in a trafic jam for about 1.5hrs with it in gear off and on the brake.
I note in the owners manual that it meentions that the electronics will alter the gearchangeing should the box get too hot, which it says may happen under heavy load. i was not pulling anything.

any ideas or do i have to put it in the garage, out of warrenty AGGGHHHHHH

Dean I think the best thing is to get it into the dealer asap. If it is just out of warranty I would be looking for them to give some sort of goodwill gesture, particularly if it has been serviced at an LR franchise.

Speak to RR dealer. They replaced my steering column a week after the warranty ran out.

RR seem to be really pleasant and affable when something like this happens, just a shame the ongoing warranty costs are so high.

i have tried it in "tiptronic" it rgisters on the dash that it is momentarly going to change to the selected gear and then indecates the gear it is actually in. So i have no control of what gear, up the box it is in.

speak to a main dealer as most will offer a contribution towards the repair as a goodwill gesture if the car isnt miles out of warranty. they normally give 100% goodwill up to 3 months out of warranty and go down on a sliding scale after that.
