I've just bought a 2004 RR and would like to take it somewhere to 'play' a little and learn about it's off road capabilities. I did a LR Experience day a year back but would now like to put my new toy through it's paces. Can anyone recommend a good place to do this in the south or south west (I live near Swindon)? I'm tempted to just head off onto the many byways in my area, but don't want to get stuck somewhere or end up in trouble.... some sort of controlled environment/off road park would be ideal.

Thanks in advance,
Dom.

You used to be able to drive the ridgeway, although Ive got a feeling you cant any longer. There's plenty of lanes down your way, but I definately wouldn't go on your own. There's bound to be a few 4x4 clubs near you, just a case of finding one that isn't up their own backside (sorry, but some are round my way)
Salisbury plain is easy on your motor and quite good fun, but still go with someone with experience.

I haven't been to devils pit for many years, but done a fair amount of damage down there. It's easy to get the red mist and try to follow others in your pride and joy and end up bashing panels and bending exhausts.

I wish I was Elliot; then I'd have one for the week and one for the weekend

Thanks to all of you for the advice... I'll try and find a local off road club and join them for a day out. Any idea whether there's a web site with clubs listed?

Thanks,
Dom.

Few seconds in Google reveals:
www.landroverworld.co.uk/content/clubs.htm

LRO also has a full club listing.

Touching lots of wood .... cats seem fine on mine ... i hope, just one of the expences of ownership that i noticed, the cats on the rangie cost more than the whole performance pipe for my other toy .... will bear your friend in mind however, after i find out just what is wrong with the beast after the forst 1000 miles
