I have an expedition prepared 1995 110 300Tdi hardtop that is currently in a container on it's way home from South Africa. Unfortunately I really cannot justify keeping her as she's a little OTT (just a touch, you understand) for my commute through Bristol but I am struggling to put a realistic price on her.

She's done 123,000 miles and is in pretty good nick all things considered.

Additional kit includes:

ARB bull bar
Brownchurch heavy duty roof rack
Howling Moon roof tent
Roof box
Twin Optima batteries
Waeco 35l fridge
Katadyn water filter, plumbed into tank with pump and shower attachment
Stereo
Recovery kit (4 rated shackles, tree strop, tow rope, kinetic rope, shovel)
Tirfor type hand winch and cable
13 Allibert plastic boxes
150w Invertor
Centre seat with interchangeable seat pad/cubby box
Cooker connected to bottle in roof box
Awning and poles.
Bearmach HD Suspension (2 inch lift) and Procomp ES9000 plus spare set of shocks
35l Water tank in left rear wing
40l auxiliary fuel tank in right rear wing
Side lockers with 4 jerry cans
Jackable sills
Heavy duty “Wolf” wheels x6 with good used BFG All Terrains
2 Water cans and holders on roof rack
Safari snorkel
2 spots at front on roof rack, 1 at rear
Various storage nets
Underbody protection – diff and steering guards
Various new parts recently – fuel tank, rad, viscous coupling, water pump, thermostat.

Bad bits

Some rust on rear crossmember (and one hole)
Bushes prob need doing
Slight leak from steering box
Very slight leak from front seal of driveshaft
Needs 24k service

What do you guys reckon?? I did all the work myself and reckon I've spent £7.5k on the extras.

Hmm.

As a guy in the know, id say around 300 quid, but ill give you twice that for it, cos youre a nice guy.

Seriously, youll get more for it if you strip all the goodies and sell it as standard, then sell the bits seperately.

I know, but it took a lot of work to get her prepped and I'm reluctant to undo all that. And I have a (overly romantic) idea of selling her as is so she spends the rest of her life travelling.

Hello Bill - welcome back.

Is there some resource or forum that the 'travel-around-africa-for-months' enthusiasts use? Surely this is where you need to sell it (and check out prices of similar vehicles).

There are a few, but there aren't many exped prepped landies for sale. I'm also trying get a less rose-tinted view of the car, as I can't decide if I'm overvalueing her for sentimental reasons (or even being overly critical.)

Limited market but it must be cheaper for someone to buy a ready prepped car rather than build there own. EVEN IF THEY THINK THEY CAN DO IT CHEAPER IN THE FIRST PLACE. It's cheaper buying a complete one, that goes for competition car expedition car or classic restoration. (Said he who's just finished an expensive mini rebuild and is looking at £200 Landy....)
