I need help with a new purchase

Hi there, I bought a June '03 4.4ltr Vogue a month or so ago. There are plenty about. For £30k you are looking at a Vogue model on a 2002, maybe 2003 car, you don't have to worry about options as they are all standard, aside factory privacy glass, upgraded alloys and the bolt on options like the side steps/bars, mudflaps, lights/bumper guards etc. The 4.4 V8's are cheaper than the TD6, but the oil burner is noisey and not worthy in such a car, stick with the petrol. I get about 20mpg out of mine.
So that leaves you with just the colour combinations. The most popular are the blacks, blues and silvers. The more undesireable Alveston red, Epsom Greens etc. are cheaper. best to go look at a few RR's and seek out the combo you want. For me it had to be Adriatic Blue, with Oxford Blue leather interior (preferably cherry wood, but ended up with mahogany) and 20 inch alloys. I shopped around on Autotrader and found one at an independant. Lucky for me it had the VIP pack as well (5 years free servicing from LR) Downside is the factory warranty runs out in June and by all accounts I'd be crazy not to renew it, but at £2500 for a year is it worth it? Well as with any insurance policy its a waste of money unless they saitisfy any claim made.
As with any used car, there are some ropey 'abused' ones out there, usual things if its got a tow bar has it been towing 4 tons of horse boxes for 3 years etc.? Have a look underneath and buy one which hasn't been off-road (you will be able to tell!) Full service history goes without saying. If you go through a main dealer then the car will come with 12months LR warranty and you will have some recourse should the car have a few probs later on. You will pay more money however than a private sale.
Visit: www.rangerovers.net/forum don't let it scare you as this places tends to highlight the bad rather than good.
Any other q's, then feel free to ask.
