I have on order a brand new Range Rover (Jaguar engine with supercharger). I am looking to increase the performance by around 40BHP . Given the calibre of the car I want to be sure that the work is carried out by a top quality operation and not a back street shop . Im looking for recommendations on whos best to talk to about this . Many thanks Barry Clakson (Glasgow)

I'm not to sure who would do this for Land Rover, though racing green cars are Jaguar tuning specialists and they might be able to assist you?

The web address is www.racinggreencars.com

Try www.dmsautomotive.com. They are working on an upgrade for the RRS 4.2 Supercharged so may be able to help some time soon. They did my Disco3 TDV6 and 535d......highly recommended!!!

Alternatively buy an X5 4.8is

Try Andy White (www.whitesautoservices.com/) in Edinburgh. He can possibly remap the ECU on your Rangie (that is what he will be doing to our TD4)rather than chip it, which means that the modification may not be detected by the dealer when the car is serviced.

Im not entirely sure that will work on the RR, as the RRS has 15 bhp less as standard and 20lb/ft less torque, therefore possibly different engine management unit.

Oops. Thought I'd posted the RR link

Just installed a "tuning box" from diesel torque. com £180 delivered (lowest he would go to).

Drive has changed dramatically. More go, no better top end but seems to be smoother and faster. MPG hasn't changed.

You'll not get the same sort of gains out of "chipping" a supercharged engine as say a turbo diesel, basically because the supercharger is mechanically driven and you cant just up the boost like with a turbo motor.

There isnt much more to be had from the supercharger either as the Eaton blower is working at it its optimal speed already, so by speeding it up with larger pullies isnt going to have much affect on power either.

Id expect around 15-20 BHP if you're lucky by chipping alone.

If you really want big gains unfortunately you'll have to look at other engine work....Best speak with Overfinch.
