Freelander Headlight Question

Hi again chaps 
Have a front indicator playing up ie. not working.
I have checked the bulb and its fine.
On removing the headlight unit I notice that the indicator bulb just fits into the rear of the light moulding with no visible wiring connections.
If the bulb is ok does the entire light unit need replacing to get thie indicator working as this seems a bit silly ? The side and rear indicators work fine btw although speed has increased due to the front ones failure.
