We have a 1.8 5-door that is about 18 months old and has done around 12K miles. Neither of us ride the clutch pedal, but I have noticed recently that the pedal is VERY heavy, and the clutch does not disengage until the pedal is almost on the floor. It is also a bit like an on/off switch, to the point where if you are not careful on takeoff there is a lot of judder through the driveline.

Does anyone else have any experience of this? If I take it to the dealer without knowing if there is a fault, I just know they will rob me for a new clutch, even though the car is still under warranty.

Could be clutch fluid level or the slave cylinder sticking maybe?

i know what it is: its a shaft that goes through the side of the bell housing from the slave cylinder to the thrust bearing forks( i think) and over time, it seizes. unfortunately you got to take it out to fix it.
hope this helps...
