Has anyone swapped the old turbo diesel 2.5 engine in a pre defender 90 for a 200tdi?

Any good advice please.

I have bought a Rangerover that has a 1996 disco 200tdi fitted and want to drop the engine and r380 box into the old 90.

massive job!!!

putting a derender 200tdi in is a straight swap. takes about 3 hours. maybee slightly more.
However a range rover 200tdi is completly different. you will need to change the exhaust manifold and get a custom exhaust made up. also the intercooler and tubo are in the wrong places and the bulkhead will need to be cut.

this is why proper defender 200tdi lumps fetch such a premium over the disco and rr varients.

If its a 1996 Disco engine then it'll be the 300 Tdi version, which is what it sounds like given the R380 gearbox attached to it. As mentioned same fitting issues as Disco 200 Tdi.

So mine has been confirmed as a Disco 200tdi and R380. It sounds like I need to get the grinder out. How difficult is the bulk head conversion for the turbo and intercooler? What do I need to do?

The exhaust I can make no problem.

R380 has reverse on the bottom right, LT77 has it on the top left.
200 tdis have a green dipstick sticking out on the turbo side, 300 tdis have a yellow one tucked into the top of the engine.
hope this clarifies,

its an lt77 and 200tdi, looks like passenger side bulk head needs an inch cutting out of it. I am fitting range rover axles for the better braking, even without the r380, all should make for a much improved 90 county.
