Our 2004 TD5 has a recurring problem with the PDC (parking distance control). For the second time in a year, the pdc ecu has failed due to what the dealership describes as 'water ingress'. What they now appear to be telling me is that there is a known production fault on some cars, where the body seam behind the rear, nearside gutter is not sealed properly - water gets in, and drips down onto the pdc ecu (which is in a compartment in the rear quarterside). This water also shows itself by progressively soaking the rear compartment carpet - we have the rubber overmat, and the carpet is frequently quite wet underneath and tends to go mouldy.

Anyone else out there in Landie-land know about the 'known problem'?

Yes, both the early 90' models leaked from the top.

First one leaked after I INITIALLY opened the sunroof, and then ever since.

And the last one, appeared to funnel water in somewhere around the rear top corner,
and settle around the base of back door.

Well - here's a first. According to our dealer, Land Rover design the doors of a Disco so that any water that collects inside a door drains out of the botton through strategically placed drainholes, that are outside the doorseal line.

Unfortunately whoever's job it was to drill holes in the bottom of the rear door on our Disco went home early one Friday, so the door cavity fills up with water until it comes up to the interior trim level, at which point it makes a break for freedom into the boot....

Also, water is getting in around the driver's side 'alpine glass'.

If you have a wet, mouldy Disco boot, it might be worth checking these out?
