Wondered if anyone could pass on information reference this conversion on Defender's. I'm off to look at a Defender 50th that has this engine conversion plus brakes/steering/suspension/interior totalling £40k. It's done 16k since the conversion work.

Would appreciate input into potential problems with the Overfinch installations?

that would be me!
The overfinch lump is generally very good(not as good as the je conversions..........)
just make sure its been serviced etc. Also they dont particuly like offroading. so make sure your buying it for the right reasons. a 5.7 overfinch probably wont be as quick as you might think. drive it first! make sure you like it!!
the engine itself when kept well is good for easily 250k.
what gearbox has it got??
standard axles??
who did the conversion???
hope that helps a bit.

Mike thanks for the reply. It's a 50th Defender that was converted by Overfinch. It's had the following:

570 Hsi engine
Performance Gearing
Sports steering wheel
Electric windows
Sports exhaust
Suspension upgrade pack
Precision steering conversion
Quick steering box
Auto gearbox upgrade
Recaro sports leather
Additional sound proofing
Heavy duty braking

Plus a repaint for £8k! so all in all with Overfinch the previous owner spent £30k excluding the paint job. It's now done 13k since the work and 43k in total.

It's this one but I'm dealing direct with the owner at a reduced price. Off to see it tomorrow.

Mike, primarily on the road, however if you change the tyres to a style with a more off road byass presumably it should still be capable of some degree of off road excursion?

it wont be too bad. but the suspension setup will be all wrong. and the ride hight wont be high enough. also them engines stop at the sight of a pudle let alone any wading!! It depends on the kind of offroading. a straight forward muddy field.........great!!! deep ruts, very rough ground, water, maybee not. Nice car though

It was dreadful, aledged £8k paintjob had bubbles and was sinking, water leaking from the roof into the cabin, holes in the floor, several oil leaks, a/c broken, didn't feel anywhere near as quick as a JE Engineering one I drove. Very dissapointed.
