reversing lights

hi,
i have a 1991 discovery and when i go to move the gear stick into first gear the reversing lights flick on quickly so i have been told.

any ideas why and what i can do??

It sounds like the gear turret limit stops need adjusting - refer to a Haynes or Land Rover workshop manual...
