Had a short dealer test drive. its got a nice interior (compared to a TD5 disco) seems slow to pickup from standstill but I didnt feel like I could rag it :-(
Impressive lookin bit of kit but I wouldnt call it sporty. If I needed an offroad capable 4x4 it would probably be up there on my list but depends on what you want it for.

I've got a TDV6 HSE booked for a half day on Thursday. Going to see if the performance is adequate and also try and guage what kind of economy I can get out of it in in 4 hours of driving. Can't wait!! I'll post my verdict then.

L/R bringing new engine out November this year, June for the R/R, October into RRS.
V8 Diesel, 250 bhp. Just cancelled mine due March 1st and transferred to November. Pleased as woefully underpowered, and was going to chip my pending 2.7 at DMS as many do.
Residuals on 2.7 will be dreadful come summer.
It's the engine they should have started with, how can you expect to shft 2.5 tonnes with 190 bhp.

Had RRSport TDV6 HSE for 4 hours on loan this morning and found it to be better than I expected for that sized engine. I never felt it struggled at any speed, other than when you first move off perhaps, and I covered town, country lanes, fast A/B roads and motorway. Reset the computer when I picked it up and drove 140 miles averaged 25.9, this included giving it some serious stick on occasion and also traveling at high motorway speeds so I'd expect to get the claimed 27mpg average in "normal use". The only reason I won't be buying one is that its too small inside for me (6"4 ish). The seat is right against the transmission tunnel and the roof is too low , even without sunroof, which although fine for short journeys by the end I had neck ache from keeping it tilted to one side. I accept this new diesel v8 will be the business and I would wait for that - wonder if they'd put a bubble in the roof for me!!

That's weird cause I'm 6'4 and have no problem in wife's RRS! Are you sure you lowered the seat? Have had it chipped by Turbochip and performance is now pretty good, better than her previous X5.

Yep I lowered the seat fully and reclined the backrest more than I'd normally have it (even got dealer to make sure I'd definately got it as low as could go) and there was not enough headroom even with no sunroof.

I'm 6ft7" no head or legroom problems, but it's the length of your body/legs that count. As an example I could never drive a Cerbera due to lack of h/room, despite every one banging on about Peter Wheeler being about the same height as me. I suspect Mr. Wheeler had very long legs & relatively short torso.
I've been told that L/R have no plans to put the big diesel into the Disco, at least for another 18 months anyway.
I might get a heavily discounted HSE in late March/ early April, but I'll get it Turbochipped which gives sub 10 secs. (just) 0-60 & better mpg.
Check out Disco3.co.uk, for those who haven't already!

Ive got a RRSport 2.7 diesel and frankly Im very happy with it. OK, it coul do wht a little more poke, especially when trying to get from 70-85/90 on motorway, but otherwise its perfect for what I bought it for which is eating the miles on the motorway. Extremely comfortable with great vis and loads of gadgets to play with. Ive got a Z4 for roof down stuff and a classic TVR as well for weekend blats so Im not really trying to get the Soprt element from the RR, otherwise I would have just bought a Supercharged ( and spent the rest of my days in a petrol station)

I'm looking at the Sport diesel and asked the dealer about the new V8, she said it was only in the Range Rover this year and not the sport.

Will the residules really be that bad as I will be looking at selling the car in a year to change to the V8.

why not just wait and get the 4.2 Supercharged?, they should drop a little this year and you will be able to buy a used one for the price of a new diesel.
