Hi new here, but wondered if this might be answered,

J' reg 2.5 diesel two door Disco, I bought a month ago, has had more faults crop up in a short time than I would have thought,
the latest of which being an apparent overheat and red flashing light next to temp' gauge.

The overflow appears to be at correct level although contents at the time are stone cold,
the car really goes nowhere other than 2 miles to work and back, no towing/speeding.

any ideas welcome
Don

Could be a stuck thermostat or blocked radiator if the expansion tank is cold.

Also could be a fubared water pump.

Shouldn't be a major issue to fix.

Yep thermostat is the main thing to look at if the expansion tank is cold. Should be very cheap to pick up from Halfrauds.

Thanks,
I am thinking a block of some sort, although the heater does chuck out some heat
although not being familliar with LR's I cant' judge if output is supposed to be so paltry an amount

Should have no problem with Heat on a disco.

It's only series and 90/110 with paltry heat problems

This is the second and older of the two disco's Ive tried, and have not been
especially impressed with reliability, in either.

Without going on too much,
there hasen't been a single element between both cars that, has not failed to date;
brakes/steering/leaking bodywork/clutch/gearbox,
in fact, to much to mention,
and before some grubby son-of-toil pipes up about how great LR is,

The current Disco, was chiefly my wifes idea, and since a handfull of summers have passed since first one, the memory has dulled into the
'prap's it wasen't that bad after all' stage

evidently not the case
