My missus has got an 04 Freelander TD4 auto with 15k miles (and very nice it is too - don't worry, this isn't another td4 chip upgrade thread).
However, the gearbox behaviour leaves a lot to be desired.

For instance, it'll change up when you lift your foot off the gas (eg when approaching a junction) but if you're still rolling when you re-apply the throttle there's a huge delay before any drive takes place. (I say huge...half a second, perhaps?)

It has it's good points, like changing down when you're on the overrun downhill, but mostly it's a bit lethargic.

Things do sharpen up a bit when in "sport" mode and it's almost acceptable for smooth progress when the lever is moved over to that setting, but it's still far from the slushtastic efforts of my clunky old 38A.

Is there a software upgrade available for the 'box? Either dealer fix or specialist? It's not a mechanical issue and we don't want to turn it into a hot hatch, just make the driving experience smoother.
