Colleague of mine having bought an 04 disco now has to shift his old one. It is an M reg LPG conversion V8 manual. Black - 100k, no leather or aircon - in not bad condition, I think it also has a FSH. Just trying to get an idea of how much the old girl might be worth - he was offered 1.5k px, which we reakon is a little low. Does 3 - 3.5k sound about right?

Comments appreciated...

David.

I would say so, although be prepared to accept £3k for cash.

I have just spent about a month looking at RR's & Disco's, and I still cant figure out why Disco's are more expensive than RR's of the same age/mileage/spec?? I may be wrong, but aren't they based on the same chassis?

Some people treat an LPG conversion like its a bad thing (I have no idea why) but hold out for the right punter, cos not everyone likes paying 92p a litre.

Discos are a bit newer and have the soft dash. Apart from that, not alot.

Prices sound about right.

There are quite a few bad conversions about and a lot of converters who come and go it's difficult to know what you're getting. I chose to buy a RR classic and get it converted. More expensive in the short term, but I know what's in it, who did it, I have a guarantee and a certificate so that I can insure it!!

I was after a particular model (94 LSE soft dash) so was in a slightly different situation.

Agreed, there alot of DIY conversions about, and it is a bit of a risk, but when I bought mine, I contacted my local certified LPG fitter and asked what I should look out for in a bodge job. They gave me some model numbers, and what the usual tricks for home fitting are, and that gave me a pretty good idea of what I was buying. Then I took it to them for a once over and they issued a certificate of conformity for the insurers. Cost about £140. And that is now valid as a fitting certificate.

If i had the cash to buy the car and get it converted myself, I would have (I would have had a wider choice of cars to start with) as I was cacking my self when I took it to them for checking, just expecting them to say "no, its absolute tat, and we cant legally let you drive out of here with that time bomb in your boot!!".
