Hi Folks

Just got a mad urge to buy a 110 as a project and bling it up.

Got me a nice 110 1986 and wondered if anyone knows where I can get some chunky alloys and tyres.

Have seen some on a vehicle on Ebay called G. Lee wheels but cant find any reference to them on web searches.

Cheers

Try googling places like Nene Overland, John Craddock, Paddock spares, Famous Four, mm4x4.

Have a look in one of the LR mags, there are LOADS of adverts for bits to bolt on

I wonder if the reference to G Lee wheels should have been M Lee for Matt Lee, his wheels are pretty well known in Defender circles

Tiger WoW! that looks so cool!!

Anyone know if the preditor wheel can be used with centre caps and locking nuts?

Just got the landy back from MOT and did not fail on too much, just a rear radius arm bush, front shocker rubbers, front brake pipe, leaky power steering, track rod end and headlights, lol welcome to the money pit!!!

Why would you want to do this to a faithful old Landie - its tantamount to GBH.

oww! oww! My eyes! I think i've been blinded...

Are you talking about the Tomb Raider Edition?

Having recently restored a Series One Landie to its former glory, I'd really like to have a go at creating a "modern" series one, using a defender ninety as a base.

Whilst the upside of the SI was its sheer simplicity, wind-in-your hair appeal and mechano build, a 1950s car can still a bit fragile by modern standards.

The idea would be to strip the defender down to basics, going for a softtop / fold down windscreen type config. Paint job would be retro bronze green matt, galvanised fittings / bumpers, old pressed ally decals and military style faded canvas tilt. However, modern styling would include custom built seats in aged leather, modern alloys and tyres, and all bang up to date electrics / lighting.

Nene does something like what I'm after with its extreme....

...but I don't like the modern convertible roof set-up.

cy88 I agree with you on the soft top not too keen on that myself but really like the lift kit, wheels and tyres.

I wouldnt go as far as GBH Lizt but for me I want to do some long distance cruising across Eurpoe next year and visit a friend in Sweden and do some off roading in the Swedish mountains whilst visiting a pal over there, so a 110 is my choice, somwhere to store all the gear and maybe even sleep in the back if we are too drunk to put the tent up!!

Think I will take some snaps of my 110 (yet to be named suggestions considered) so I can show her off in the pre bling stage.

Got all the MOT parts from famous four and going in Monday for work and re-test, then I can start thinking about project Bling Bling more seriiously and need to sell my much loved 1972 Series III SWB to raise a bit of capital.

One of those external cages is now firmly on my shopping list, not sure if I dare have it chromed!!

Lets get some more pics of Blinged up Landy's on this thread, I even have Landy's in my dreams, am I normal?

There's nothing wrong with that - an honest Landie showing itself for what it is and looking like it can do the job it was built for. Better than (a frankly rather poncy) silver-coloured, alloy-wheeled, 'ohhh don't splash any mud on me' get-up.

Each to their own i guess, but i really don't think it sits comfortably alongside the traditional rugged image of the Defender. That said, i'm sure you'll get a lot of enjoyment out of it and i wish you all the best with the refurb.
