Having just bought another new JLR (RR Velar p400e), I was told by the dealer that it was part of the deal that I HAD to have the in control app on my phone, and register the car. We went through a whole bunch of time wasting at the garage to set this up (I'll never use the app).

Is this a thing? ... or was it tosh?

If it is a thing, what happens when I buy another JLR and tell them I don't own a mobile?

(Which I will.. just to see what happens).

TIA

You don't have to have it. But the dealer HAS to take you through it, otherwise naughty book from JLR.

So by proxy you have to have it. Also it is very useful to preheat or cool a p400e and unlock remotely. You will use it!

This is my second p400e, and I've never used it. All done in the car.

But thanks - good to know the dealer HAS to do it and it's the same for everyone.

I find it useful for the ad-hoc times when you want to pre-heat or cool the car.

Like when you've been out for dinner and its freezing outside...it's nice to set it to heat whilst you're paying the bill and come back to a cosy car!
