Range rover insurance
Discussion
I really like to buy a range rover auto biography and their prices are dirt cheap now probably because no one insures them.
Cheapest I can find is 3.5k in comparison website and that is tesco then next cheapest is 5.5k
I am in London and one of my mate has a range rover sport in leeds / paying 1.5 k. Tried his post code out of curiosity and still same price
I have 13 years of ncb, over 35 years old and no accidents. How so insurance price these up where a mate of mine with less ncb and same age cheaper than me
Tried range rover website and they don’t offer cover to me!

There is a large, long thread on this topic over in the Land Rover section - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Unfortunately, if you have a postcode where the average person opts to leave their Range Rover out on the street for collection like an old fridge then the insurance industry has decided it no longer wishes to ask all its other customers to pay for the absence of policing. The cars are now great value but only for those who live in areas where most people hide their valuables away from 'collectors'.

Not necessarily true. I got a quote for a RRS of 2012 vintage, my regular insurer said a straight 'No', I ended with a quote 3 times the price of the newer MB GLE I ended up with. The cars are now great value but only for those who live in areas where most people hide their valuables away from 'collectors'.
I would not touch a more modern one in any way shape or form, their reliability is not good enough for me.

As mentioned, location. There has never been a car stolen from my postcode.
Here: 2024 RR fully comp = £640 p.a.
Loads cheaper on the net, but I've been with my lot for ages, so will stick with them as they facilitate lots of 'one day' stuff.

Most thieves would have to steal fuel first to travel to IV54 to steal cars!
I don't think using random postcodes to get insurance quotes is useful, as many insurers run soft credit checks to verify that you actually live at the address provided.
If the address doesn’t match your credit file, it raises red flags for the insurer, and they may either decline to quote or increase the price to account for the perceived higher risk.
