Range Rover 4.4 tdv8 mpg
Discussion
Hi, I’m looking to buy a Cayenne 4.8 gts, or a Range Rover 4.4 tdv8, what sort of fuel ecomony are people getting? Looking to do a trip northeast to Portsmouth, then Santander to Barcelona and then to Alicante, before returning to the ferry port.
What sort of fuel economy do people generally get?
I’ve read anything from 15mpg to 28 on a run?
I’m looking at buying one with a fsh and less then 120000 miles.

The 13 plate RR 4.4tdv8 I had at the start of the year did an average of 28.3 over the 5800 miles I owned it, 90% of the miles being sat on the M5 with cruise set at 75mph.
That is actual mpg calculated with the road trip app, not the 30. something the dash was displaying.
The car was running 20" wheels too for reference, I'd suggest the 19" wheel would help with mpg marginally, and the opposite can be said of the 21".
Cheers,
Chris

You’re going to have to explain that to me.The 19”, 20”, 21” (& 22” for that matter) wheel options all maintain the same rolling radius (with very minor variations).
How the wheel to tyre ratio affects mpg is something I’m not aware of.

Thanks for replying. I’m looking at a l322 tdv8 4.4.
I’ve had lots of Land Rovers I was looking for a discovery 4 apart from the crank issues.
I've had an L322 4.4 TDV8 for two years. It's main usage is running around locally (not city driving, more country roads). When doing this, it's showing around 25-27mpg. On a motorway run at 70ish, it'll get to 34mpg. Towing a 2 tonne caravan it's down to 20-21 mpg.I’ve had lots of Land Rovers I was looking for a discovery 4 apart from the crank issues.
These are all displayed mpg, as someone else has noted, it's optimistic (by about 10%).
It's a fantastic engine, I love it!
My L405 sits on 22" wheels. I'm very happy with the ride quality (but I am coming from a L320 Sport on 22s) and the mapped (I didn't know this when I bought it) 4.4 SDV8 returns 32mpg easily on a run. And 22mpg towing a twin axle caravan.
On Saturday on the 320 mile round trip to the Annual Service at Bicester, it returned 34.6mpg
