Helen and I are looking to buy a V8 Defender - preferably a 90 and preferably with LPG conversion.

Anyone got any good hints on where to look? We spoken to our local specialists (Suffolk/Norfolk border) and they are on the case.

We keep looking on Autotrader, but there don't seem to be many advertised there. Any other web sites people have used, or independents with good stock?

Many thanks,

Simon

Simon,

Genuine V8 90's are as rare as rocking horse poo. There's a lot of conversions but very few factory built ones.

I have one and am often challenged on petrol forecourts (visit them a lot) and similar to sell it. I've always said no but I'm about to change circumstances and a Diesel 300TDi will be more suitable for my upcoming needs.

If you are interested let me know.

Just to be picky but the only V8 Defenders are the 50th Anniversary ones built in 1998, info at www.Defender50th.co.uk
The older V8's are just 90's, before they were called Defenders

Best regards

James

Denis, Henry,

thanks for the offers but, as of yesterday, we have sorted ourselves out. Just got to wait for the owner of the firm to get married and finish his honeymoon before he can start work on the modifications.

James, I know technically that what we are buying is a 90 not a Defender. However, I've also read in a number of mags that the V8 was a available as a special order option after 1990 so there are a few V8 Defenders about. Also people have converted to V8 too - and as we're not purists we don't care.

Seriously though, Helen did keep showing me the 50th Anniversary, but that was more than we wanted to spend. She eventually gave up when she realised that they only came as Auto. Had they come with a manual gearbox I would have had a big fight on my hands.
