Hi Everyone,
Go easy, long term lurker but would love your advice on a new to me 2014 LWB autobiography 5.0 supercharged full fat Range Rover.
Picked it up yesterday, beautifully smooth engine. Few bits and bobs in the cabin to sort out but so far so good…
Anything to look out for? Cars done 70k miles with a mix of JLR and Indy servicing. Apart from the heavy fuel bills, are they cars generally reliable? No engine horror stories? I’ve briefly read the 5 litre is quite reliable…
Fire away 🙈

Congratulations on your purchase, I'm sure you'll love it. I dont have any stories horror or otherwise but my 13months of L405 SDV8 ownership has been fantastic; I hope yours is too. Only thing note, be mindful where you park, the standard L405 is big enough but the LWB version will mean your nose will stick out of many parking slots.

Once my work mileage abates in a few years when I plan to retire, I'll be going 5.0SC too.

Can't offer any advice however, I can recommend The Jag Doctor in Dorking if that's not too far for you.

Good luck with your new purchase\2

Mine’s a standard wheelbase and bit newer (2019) but is up to nearly 50k miles. Owned since new and has been almost entirely trouble free.

Only issues have been a tailgate calibration issue and the massage seats jamming (entirely unrelated to the children fiddling with them). Both within the first couple of months of ownership.

I still like it so much that I’ve not bothered to look at the new model yet.

Hopefully yours turns out to be similarly trouble free.

Congratulations with your purchase, I have owned three Range Rovers with the 5.0L Supercharged engine, a L322 and a L405 Autobiography (SWB) and a couple of years ago a SVR.
I sold the L322 to a friend of mine who has racked up a significant mileage with no other cost than regular service (and a lot of petrol!), I enjoyed trouble free motoring with all three. The 5.0L V8 is a wonderful engine, silky smooth with no lag, providing a very linear power delivery.
A shame they replaced the Jag engine with a BMW unit in the new model.
I’d probably go New Defender V8 if I were in the market for a new JLR product as I love this engine so much.
Enjoy the (s)miles!
