V8 Diesel or petrol
Discussion
I guess it depends on your journey type, diesels don't like short journeys and wont be much cheaper than a petrol, big miles per annum will see many many stops at fuel stations. Both are great cars, both are terrific engines. I went diesel as I do 15-20k miles pa. Similarly, if you are towing a lot of heavy stuff I'd go diesel. If the cost of fuel is no issue, petrol every time.
It seems the v8s are as reliable/unreliable as each other so it boils down to whether you get a great one or a dud. Mine has been nigh on perfect.
If I remember correctly, all the petrols are pretty much Autobiography spec, some of the diesels may not have the spec you want. My AB has pretty much all the toys I want.

I drove both and went for the petrol (5.0 s/c, non-SVR). When I was deciding (late 2018), the petrol ones had better residuals which pretty much offset the increase in fuel consumption when calculated over my projected annual mileage.
Diesel for towing is a bit of a red herring when it comes to engines that size. The petrol will happily tow 3+ tonnes with ease when needed.
If you go for petrol it will drink: I can check, but it wouldn't surprise me if my long term average mpg isn't quite into the 20s. If it is, it's not by much. Not sure I've ever managed 25. Normally equates to a range of 385-400 miles to a tank (as reported by the on board display when I fill it).

Not to bothered about MPG as at present drive Bentley GTC Speed, local dealer has 2019 V8 diesel for £49000 with 33000 mls and 2021 V8 petrol with 41000 mls for £57000, both have the same spec and the same colour
Love my V8 petrols after owning a few TVRs and S class S63, a Lexus LC500, Jag F Type . If I looked at my history it would be V8 petrol
It seems that Land Rover dealers are willing to do a deal with my car where as Mercedes and BMW do not want to play ball, offering £10000 less for my car
The only other car I am interested in in a Jag F pace SVR, which does not compare with the comfort/luxury of the Range Rover but does excite like a few of my past cars and they have offered more for the Bentley
